The 46-year-old comedian will present the Channel 4 show that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 'Mr Men' books after being a lifelong fan of the book series.

He told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: I grew up on these books and considered the Mister Men and Little Miss characters my friends. I am delighted to be meeting them again and look forward to finding out the story behind this iconic series.”

Matt will take a trace back to the creation of the children's book series in 1971 when creator, Roger Hargreaves, showed his son what a tickle looked like.

Roger sketched his first 'Mr Men' character before creating a whole universe full of different personalities and going on to sell 85 million books worldwide.

What's more, Matt will reveal the names of two new characters on the programme after the publishers asked fans to vote for their favourite out of Mr Calm, Little Miss Kind, Little Miss Brave, Little Miss Energy and Mr Brilliant.

Adam Hargreaves - who took over from his dad after his death in 1988 - said: “It’s amazing to see people are still connecting to the books after 50 years, they have always been about getting people to relate with the unique characters and identify the different traits of their own personalities, so it’s great to involve the fans and let them help shape the next 50 years of 'Mr Men'.”

It comes after 'Good Morning Britain' co-hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were turned into 'Mr Men' characters, Mr Shouty and Little Miss Pouty.

Piers, 55, can be seen as a blue Mr Shouty with a grey quiff hairstyle who dons a tie and smart black shoes while frowning. While his 50-year-old co-host's cartoon is bright yellow and features her brunette locks with rouge lipstick and a pair of bright red heels.
