The 'Hotel Babylon' star has been shaking up Claire Danes' security team in the latest season of American hit drama 'Homeland', and back in the UK he's appearing in British drama 'Ordinary Lies', but revealed there was a time that he couldn't get cast in serious roles.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "There was a point when I was doing 'Hotel Babylon' when I couldn't get cast in a serious part. It's so weird, but then you do serious parts and they go, 'Ooh, I don't know if they'd be right for a comic role'. So you have to be able to do it all. But it's OK, because I'm quite crazy so I can pull it off!"

Meanwhile the 44-year-old actor - who stars in Audible's crime drama 'Passenger 23' which is available to download now from Audible.co.uk - lives in Los Angeles and has written tracks and appeared in another popular US series, 'Empire'.

And he has been flying back and forth to the UK and says he enjoys "both worlds."

He continued: "It is like the best of both worlds... I was back in Chicago and it was great, I know Terrence (Howard who plays Lucious Lyon). He and I have co-written and co-produced two songs on that series. And then also a hip-hop tune. It's as exciting and interesting as being in Warrington shooting 'Ordinary Lives', it's just the same dynamic."
