Gwilym Lee and Neil Dudgeon in Midsomer Murders
'Midsomer Murders' is teaming up with producers of 'The Killing' for a special episode.
The mid-afternoon favourite will head to Copenhagen in Denmark for a special episode as part of the 16th series which will feature Danish actors Ann Eleonora Jorgensen from 'The Killing' and Birgitte Hjort Sorensen from 'Borgen'.
Jo Wright, Executive Producer of the show, explained: "'Midsomer Murders' is incredibly popular on prime time Danish television. It is known as 'Barnaby' and has been running for 12 years winning 40 per cent of the audience share.
"The idea to shoot in Denmark came about because we wanted to do something special to mark the 100th episode, and it's great to be working with DR, producer of the award winning series 'The Killing'."
In the episode, DCI Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and DS Nelson (newcomer Gwilym Lee) travel to Denmark when a body is discovered which links back to a family who live in Midsomer. The episode will also return to its first ever murder location - the iconic setting of Badger's Drift.
Producer Louise Sutton added: "This is very exciting for us as it is the first time that Bentley Productions have taken 'Midsomer Murders' out of the UK to film. And it is also fantastic to work with Danish actors from the 'The Killing' and 'Borgen'."
'The Killing' is a Danish crime drama series made between 2007 and 2012, which was a huge international hit and remade for US audiences.
'Borgen' is a separate Danish series, a poltical drama about a young female politician who unexpectedly becomes Prime Minister.
