FOX UK have acquired the rights to U.S. detective drama Murder In The First after signing a deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution.

Premiering next year, it comes from Emmy winner Steven Bochco who created it alongside newcomer Eric Lodal.

Set in San Francisco, the series take an up-close and personal look at one single complex homicide investigation across an entire ten episode season.

Taye Diggs stars alongside Kathleen Robertson, James Cromwell, Richard Schiff, Nicole Ari Parker, Currie Graham, Ian Antony Dale, Raphael Sbarge, Lobardo Boyar, Bess Rous, Mimi Kirkland, Steven Weber and Tom Felton.

Head of Programming and Scheduling Toby Etheridge commented: "Murder in the First is a compelling single-case drama, with striking performances and a plot that will keep you guessing 'whodunit' until the very end. A perfect companion to NCIS, viewers can enjoy their fill of intriguing mysteries and murder, Friday nights on FOX."

Terry English (Taye Diggs) and Hildy Mulligan (Kathleen Robertson) investigate two murders that at first seem to be unrelated, but the mystery deepens when a common denominator between the two crops up in Silicon Valley prodigy Erich Blunt (Tom Felton).

Fellow detectives include SFPD homicide inspector David Molk (Raphael Sbarge) - a class clown but thoughtful philosopher-cop, and his partner Edgar Navarro (Lombardo Boyar).

Legendary criminal attorney Warren Daniels (James Cromwell) is called in to assist when suspicion turns to Blunt, whose legal team also includes trusted lawyer David Hertzberg (Richard Schiff).

Murder In The First is produced by TNT Originals and is executive produced by Steven Bocho and Eric Lodal, distributed internationally by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

The show premieres Friday, January 16 at 10pm on FOX UK.
