The birth of Mexico's drug war is to be the central focus of the new season of Narcos: Mexico, and this past week, Netflix revealed a full-length first look trailer for the new batch of episodes. Check it out below:

Kicking off at a time when the Mexican trafficking world was disorganised and loose, made up of a confederation of independent growers and dealers, audiences will witness the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel throughout the 1980s, with Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) steering the wheel.

Unifying traffickers in a bid to build the biggest drug empire Mexico had ever seen, Gallardo will come under the sights of DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña), who moves his wife and young son from California to Guadalajara to take on a new post.

It doesn't take long for Camarena to learn that this will be his most challenging assignment to-date, and as he gathers intelligence on his target and becomes more entangled in his mission, a tragic chain of events unfolds, effecting not only the drug trade, but the war against it for years to come.

Gaumont Television produce the series for Netflix, with Eric Newman serving as executive producer and showrunner. José Padilha, Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard also work as executive producers on the show.
