The 33-year-old actor played troubled teen Tony Stonem in the E4 teen drama - which followed fictional sixth formers in Bristol and their drug-fuelled antics - for two seasons, but Nicholas finds it "too painful" to watch himself on the show.

He told Tom Green on Hits Radio: "I've never watched it. Maybe at some point, I think it would be too painful for me to watch.

"I don't enjoy watching myself. I feel like, I don't know, I shrink away from this. Maybe when I'm like 80? If I make it to 80…"

By contrast, Nicholas felt he could really "relate" to ‘The Inbetweeners', which followed four hapless boys during their teenage years.

The sitcom starred Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley, and the Hollywood star found it easier to relate to.

He said: "Watching that I was like, this I can relate to in many ways more…"

Meanwhile, April Pearson - who played Tony’s girlfriend Michelle - previously admitted to feeling uncomfortable during her time on the show.

The actress claimed that she "didn’t feel protected" while shooting explicit sex scenes.

On her podcast, ‘Are You Michelle From Skins', April said: “You don't really know what to say, to speak out, is this okay … And as with a lot of victims of trauma, you look back at it and think: 'Yeah, that was f***** up.''

"There's a difference between being officially old enough and mentally old enough. I was having this conversation with my husband and I was saying I do feel like I was too young, I feel like I wasn't protected."
