Pamela Anderson is ready to put the record straight and tell her truth, in an exclusive documentary years in the making, set to come to Netflix.

Announcing the news, Anderson released a handwritten statement which read: "My life/ A thousand imperfections/ A million misperceptions/ Wicked, wild and lost/ Nothing to live up to /I can only surprise you /Not a victim, but a survivor /And alive to tell the real story."

Ryan White serves as director on the documentary, following his work on The Case Against 8, so we can expect an intimate, raw and upfront look into the life of one of the world's most talked-about stars.

Recent series Pam & Tommy, which attempts to tell the story surrounding Anderson's adult home movie created with Tommy Lee on the pair's honeymoon, was developed without her permission or input. This meant that Anderson had no interest in the Hulu original series - which is available to watch in the UK on Disney+ under the Star banner.

This move was just one of many that has been a metaphorical slap in the face for the philanthropist, who has been the subject of misogyny throughout her entire career. As no stranger to scrutiny and being asked to live up to unreachable and unrealistic expectations, finally allowing Anderson the chance to tell her story on her terms is a great thing.

Anderson's career started with a role in Tool Time, but she is of course best-known for her time as C.J. Parker through four seasons of Baywatch. It was her time on this series that catapulted her into the global spotlight, and she wasted no time in ensuring she was using her newfound power for good.

Setting up the Pamela Anderson Foundation in 1996, two years after her Baywatch debut, the Canadian star kicked off what would become decades of charitable work helping organisations close to her heart, such as PETA and Choose Love.

So numerous has her charity work been in fact, that her foundation has won a number of different awards. It's clear that for Anderson, there's more to the person than many simply assume.

No release date for the documentary has yet been revealed, but we'll bring you more information surrounding the feature as and when we get it.
