Piers Morgan stands by his criticism of the Duchess of Sussex following his exit from 'Good Morning Britain' on Tuesday (09.03.21).

The 55-year-old TV host quit the show following controversial comments he made about the Duchess during her sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, but Piers has taken to Twitter to insist he still doesn't believe the former 'Suits' star.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: "On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions."
Piers' tweet also featured an image of former Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.
Alongside the war-time leader, a quote read: "SOME PEOPLE'S IDEA OF FREE SPEECH IS THAT THEY ARE FREE TO SAY WHAT THEY LIKE, BUT IF ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING BACK, THAT IS AN OUTRAGE (sic)"
Piers quit ‘Good Morning Britain’ after Ofcom received more than 41,000 complaints about his comments toward the Duchess.
In a statement, ITV confirmed: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave ‘Good Morning Britain’. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."
Prior to that, the broadcaster announced it was launching an investigation into Piers' comments on the show.
ITV said in a tweet: "We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain under our harm and offence rules.
"As of 14:00 on Tuesday 9 March, we have received 41,015 complaints about the programme."
Piers - who was replaced by Ranvir Singh on Wednesday morning (10.03.21) - had previously said he “didn’t believe a word" of Duchess' interview, in which she said she "didn’t want to be alive" after receiving heavy public scrutiny.
