The 55-year-old TV presenter is taking a break from his hosting duties on 'Good Morning Britain' as he relaxes in St. Tropez with his three sons, but his tranquillity took a turn when he picked up an injury.

Sharing a snap on Instagram of him standing on crutches next to his sons Stanley, Spencer and Bertie, Piers said: "Peg-leg (nothing like a tearing a tendon on Day 2 of a 6-week holiday) (sic)"

The ITV presenter received an "avalanche" of messages from his fans wishing him well.

He later tweeted: "UPDATE: I'm deeply touched by the avalanche of 'goodwill' messages pouring in. I know my fans will be thrilled to learn that torn tendons are really f****** painful. But nothing a good French claret can't cure. (sic)"

Piers took off for his sunny holiday last week, and since landing in France he has reunited with his sons and met up with Dame Joan Collins in the sunshine.

He shared a picture of his luncheon with the 87-year-old actress on Instagram.

He captioned: "Don't you wish someone looked at you the way Dame Joan looks at me?"

This comes after Piers recently announced his new book 'Wake Up' will be released on October 15th.

In a tweet on Thursday (16.07.20), he said: "BREAKING: I'm delighted to announce my new book: 'WAKE UP - Why the 'liberal' war on free speech is even more dangerous than Covid-19.'

"Out on October 15th in hardback, ebook & audiobook read by me. (sic)"

Piers had previously teased a "big announcement" and told his Twitter followers to "watch this space".
