The 'Good Morning Britain' presenter revealed earlier this week that an Instagram user had commented on one of his pictures, of him and son Spencer Morgan, saying he was "getting killed", and Piers reported the threats to the Metropolitan Police, who visited his house last night (17.02.21) to take a statement.

He wrote on Twitter: "I've reported these death threats to @metpoliceuk and look forward to hearing back from them. I’m also keen to hear what steps @instagram @Facebook are taking to identify the person who made the death threats on their platform & has now deleted their account. (sic)"

A Twitter user then claimed in his experience the police "do very little" when it comes to social media, writing: "Unfortunately Piers when it comes to social media the police do very little. That's what I found in Merseyside anyway. They don't have the resources or time to trace accounts (sic)"

But Piers responded: "Well they’re definitely taking this seriously.. they’re round my house now taking a statement. (sic)"

The 'Life Stories' host initially told fans about the threat earlier in the week, when he shared a screenshot of the vile Instagram comment via his Twitter account, adding: "Let’s see how big and tough he feels when I give him the exposure he deserves".

The threat read: "your a marked man, calling the police, big tech or beefing up security isn't going to stop us getting to you, this isn't a threat piers it's a promise, your getting killed. (sic)"

What's more, the troll also threatened Spencer and Piers' ex, Spencer's mum Marion Shalloe.

Another comment read: "Watch your back @spencermorgan if you don't get your dad, your getting it or your mum is (sic)"
