The 45-year-old singer teamed up with the 'Maggie May' hitmaker and jazz-pop singer Jamie Cullum on his new album 'The Christmas Present', and he has both stars to join him on stage at the annual variety show.

A source said: "Robbie jumped at the chance to perform again at 'The Royal Variety Show'.

"It's a huge deal and he's been on three times before, once in 2016 and again in 2013 and 2012.

"Robbie sees it as a massive privilege to be asked to perform for Royalty and is excited to get back on stage in front of them."

Rod is also expected to perform a track from his new album 'You're Always in My Heart' at the event.

The source added to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "Robbie's so proud of his tracks with Rod and Jamie, so to have them performing with him is going to make the night extra special.

"As well as singing a duet with Robbie, Rod is also going to be singing one of his own songs from his new album, 'You're Always in My Heart'."

The event will be co-hosted by comics Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, who will become the first comedy pairing in over 30 years to be at the helm of the long-running entertainment extravaganza at the London Palladium on November 18.

Rob said: "I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to be hosting the 'Royal Variety Performance' with one of my best friends and best comedians in the country Romesh Ranganathan.

"My mum and dad love Rod Stewart more than me and can't wait to see him perform. Fingers crossed they will stay and watch me and Rom host the rest of the show once Rod has finished his set."

Co-host Romesh quipped: "It is obviously amazing to be asked to host the 'Royal Variety Performance'.

"Being asked to do so alongside Rob Beckett is both exciting as well as slightly taking the gloss off the honour."
