The 42-year-old comedian - who previously needed four stitches after being accidentally elbowed in the face by fellow panellist Jamie Redknapp - damaged his left wrist and dislocated his right thumb during a BMX bike speed challenge on the Sky One quiz show.

Speaking during a stand-up routine for online show 'Always Be Comedy', he said: "The track where it happened doesn't have many injuries.

"Unluckily for me, the health and safety guys hadn't dreamed up the uniquely stupid way I'd do the challenge.

"I can't even say I did it during the white heat of a competition - it happened during training."

Romesh showed off his bright red cast during his routine, but he admitted he stopped short of exploiting the injury for comic material.

He quipped: "Getting my wife to wipe my a**e once would have been an excellent joke.

"I bottled it because the marital strains already brought on by lockdown made it way too big a risk."

It seems the star will still push on with filming for the upcoming 15th season of the sports panel show, which is set to be released later this year.

A Sky spokeswoman told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "Romesh is in good spirits and will continue filming for the 15th series of 'A League of Their Own', due to air later this year."

Last summer, Romesh shared a photo of himself with a swimming cap over his left eye, after he had four stitches above his eye and was told to keep them dry following a challenge that went wrong on the programme.

Sharing the picture on Instagram, he added the caption: "Make sure you keep the stitches dry."

Jamie - who broke his wrist on the show in 2018 after Romesh hurled a football at him from 120ft - jokingly replied: "I mean it was 2 stitches you're a joke . You broke my wrist I have never mentioned it (sic)"
