Rose Leslie has admitted that before she started filming scenes for popular television series Game of Thrones, she was "oblivious" to the huge fandom.

The actress had no idea just how popular the adaptation of George R. R. Martin's novels were until she promoted the show at a ComicCon event.

Speaking to InStyle Magazine, Rose explained: "I was so naive at first. I was oblivious to how huge the fan base was, so I didn't feel too much pressure. I was shooting my first season in Iceland with a tight crew, so I was cocooned in my bubble on this beautiful landscape with no one else to be seen. And then it hit me at Comic Con, my first big event for the show."

Playing Ygritte was tough for the star, and filming her final scenes with Kit Harington - who plays Jon Snow - before her character died was very "emotional".

"It was hard but I knew from day one that she was going to die because I had read the books. HBO had scheduled that scene so it was my final one to film, which played on my romantic side. It was a very emotional day."
