The 48-year-old actress - who previously played Ronnie Mitchell in 'EastEnders' - "couldn't be happier" after growing close to Oliver while acting opposite him in a 2019 stage adaptation of 'The Girl On The Train'.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Samantha’s chemistry with Oliver was clear to see on stage and they remained close after the production.

"They couldn’t be happier and have loved dating away from the public eye.

"They’ve met each other’s families and it all feels very natural. They’re totally smitten with each other."

Samantha split from her husband Mark Womack in 2018, but they've subsequently maintained a healthy relationship and he's said to be pleased for the actress.

The source said: "Mark is happy for her too. It’s all very grown-up and modern."

The former soap star - who has Benjamin, 20, and Lily, 16, with Mark - announced her split from her husband last summer.

However, she revealed that at the time, they were still sharing their Bedfordshire farmhouse with their kids.

Samantha explained: "Our family home is big enough and we’re co-existing happily. There’s no rush to change things.

"But now feels like the right time to be honest and admit that we are no longer together.

"We’ve been happily living together ever since. It’s bizarre but these have probably been the best years we’ve had as a family."

Samantha and Oliver - who previously played played Andy Carver in 'Coronation Street' - both share a passion for animals and he's been helping the actress with her dogs.

The insider shared: "The couple have been taking Samantha’s pooches on walks in the countryside."
