Shane Richie regrets appearing on Daz adverts in the 1990s.

The 49-year-old star took over from Danny Baker on the 'Doorstep Challenge' adverts for the detergent brand, which sponsored the TV Choice Awards on Monday night (09.09.13), and joked that since getting older he is wish he hadn't done them.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the awards - where he picked up the Best Soap Actor prize - he quipped: "Some of the stuff I'm beginning to regret now when I look back on it. My kids are finding stuff on YouTube.

"It would be difficult to say what because we're sponsored by one of them tonight!

"I ended up at some weird people's doors."

The 'EastEnders' actor - who plays pub landlord Alfie Moon in the BBC One soap - previously joked he only did the Daz adverts because of the money.

He once said: "They do attract a lot of bored housewives. I get these letters saying, 'Come to my house at 2.30pm. My husband won't be there and you can check my whites - if you know what I mean.'

"And they send me pictures of themselves holding their bras with messages like, 'Check these out, Shane.' "
