The former 'EastEnders' actor has been haunted by the ghoulish house guest since moving into a new home in Kent three years ago with his significan other Adele, and he even sought late medium Derek Acorah's help when the pair were in the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house.

He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "When we moved in we heard a lot of banging - it was bad enough at first that we kept running up stairs to check we weren't being burgled.

"It's poltergeisty ... it doesn't throw things around, but it does make a lot of noise."

Shaun said Derek - who appeared alongside him on the Channel 5 reality show back in 2017 - told him he had a spirit called Rosemary in the property.

He said: "I was in 'Big Brother' with Derek Acorah and we really hit it off and he phoned me up and he said to me 'You've got a ghost in your house'.

"I went 'Well yeah ... he's noisy', and he said 'No, it's a she and she's called Rosemary', so then I had to start screaming at Rosemary.

"I scream at it and shout at it saying 'You're not frightening me, stop it' and all that sort of stuff."

The 54-year-old star suggested his screaming may have helped scare off the spooky spectre, because the ghost has been "very quiet" of late.

He added: "She's been very quiet lately - I don't think ghosts like the initial upheaval when someone new moves into a house."

Recently, Shaun - who played Barry Evans on 'EastEnders' from 1994 to 2004 - claimed his Albert Square fame meant that some trips to pub have ended in him being confronted by jealous men furious that their ladies are flirting with him.

He said: "Nobody should ever get their violins out for me, but no-one should underestimate what it's like to lose your anonymity.

"You go into a pub for a very quiet pint and a woman starts making a fuss over you and then her boyfriend wants to knock you out, all that crap. You've done nothing wrong. You're just trying to be nice."
