The ‘EastEnders’ legend and the Olympic diving champion became the latest stars to leave the ITV reality show in Friday’s (10.12.21) double eviction, as they narrowly missed out on being one of the series’ final four contestants.

Adam – who is best known for playing Ian Beale on ‘EastEnders for 36 years – admitted he was “nervous” for the public to see the person behind the soap character but had “so much fun” on the show.

Speaking to Ant and Dec after leaving the camp, he said: “[I was nervous] because I haven’t got a script. I’ve spent 36 years with a script. I’m not like Simon [Gregson] who’s naturally funny, I need someone to play off. Having Simon in there really helped me because we knew each other from before.

“But I had so much fun. I’ve had such a laugh. Even when I got sent back down to the Castle Clink, I have a lovely evening with Arlene [Phillips].”

While Matty – who bagged a gold medal alongside Tom Daly in the diving at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games earlier this year – said he also wanted to venture into the castle to show the public who he is when he’s not on the diving board.

He explained: “The public only see a very serious athlete on the board, I have to be in the game. But I know there’s a funny side to me – there’s a funny side to everyone. And I thought going in there would show everyone exactly who I am, and I hope I’ve done that.”

With Adam and Matty no longer in camp, just four stars remain – Simon Gregson, David Ginola, Danny Miller, and Frankie Bridge.

And with only two days left to go before the winner is crowned on Sunday (12.12.21), Adam has said he would like to see fellow soap star Simon walk away as the King of the Castle, while Matty named last woman standing Frankie as his winner.
