The cobbles star - who has played Steve McDonald on the ITV soap since 1989 - has been signed up by a company offering self-filmed messages to fans for £30 each via an online service, but there are some restrictions.

A warning post on the website reads: "Simon cannot mention character names/locations etc from the TV Programme that he is in!"

However, the site is still confident fans will enjoy the personalised clips from the 45-year-old actor.

The post continues: "Great as gifts for birthdays, Christmas, weddings, personal connections and much more. You can watch, download, share, & keep your video forever."

Simon is known for his sense of humour on the 'Corrie' set, and previously revealed how he loves to play pranks to make his co-stars laugh.

Last year, he just couldn't help himself when he saw "massive" prosthetic penis for sale in a Blackpool joke shop - so he purchased the fake member to surprise Joe Duttine (Tim Metcalfe) and Jimmi Harkishin (Dev Alahan) with during a hot tub scene on the soap.

He said: "Earlier this year, I was in a joke shop in Blackpool, and I saw this massive false willy that I put on for one of Steve's scenes with Tim and Dev in the hot tub.

"I just took my dressing gown off, and there it was."

And he previously called for Steve and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) to "win the lottery" and splash the cash in hilarious ways.

He laughed: "With the money, Tracy would get massive knockers, and Steve would get some of those white Rylan [Clark-Neal] teeth that you don't know he has until he orders a beer.

"And they'd drive everywhere in a convertible Bentley - even from Dev's to the Rovers."
