The Blue band member has left the eleventh season of the hit BBC One cooking series on Wednesday night (29.06.16), after serving a salt fish dish accompanied by cream crackers, and Caribbean curried mutton with rice and peas for his main, which lacked flavour.

Speaking about his departure, Simon - who appeared on series eight of 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!' - said: "Good luck guys. I am sad on the one side because I will never do this again.

"I wish I had of gone on and learned a lot more, but sometimes you can't always be a winner."

This news comes as no surprise as the show's co-hosts John Torrode and Gregg Wallace wished the musician had of been bolder with his meals and included more spices in his creations.

Speaking about the dark-haired heartthrob's starter, Gregg said: "That's too big for me for a starter! I'd like a load of chilli peppers across the top of it."

And Gregg held the same opinion of his main course, he said: "Again like I wanted chilli I want some more heat. I think we are lacking a little bit of flavour."

However, the 38-year-old - who went head to head with 'EastEnders' actress Laila Morse, Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah, former England Rugby Captain Neil Back and The Communards band member Richard Coles - has revealed he simply cracked under the pressure.

He explained: "That's what happens under pressure sometimes ... everything just goes out the window."

Meanwhile, the judges labelled Neil and Richard as the "best cooks" on tonight's show.

Gregg said: "The best cooks are Neil Back and Richard ... I could find very little wrong with Neil Back's food.

"I am disappointed with Amelle and Simon. One of those is making more of an effort than the other."

'Celebrity Masterchef' will continue to run over a six-week period and will air on BBC One at 8pm.
