Stacey Dooley says motherhood has changed her

The 36-year-old documentary maker has been dating ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Kevin Clifton since they won the BBC ballroom competition together in 2018 and went on to welcome daughter Minnie with him in January this year but joked that she often feels as if she is the only woman to have ever had a child.

Reflecting on motherhood, Stacey revealed that becoming a mum for the first time has changed her as she’s more dramatic than ever.

Speaking on 'The One Show' on Monday (03.04.23), she told hosts Emma Willis and Jermaine Jenas: “Honestly, it’s like I’m the first woman to ever have a child, I’m that dramatic.

“I’m just completely obsessed, I’m head over heels. She’s magic.”

Meanwhile, Stacey also spoke about her latest documentary ‘Ready For War’ which is set to debut on April 13.

The one-off programme will see Stacey follow a group of Ukrainian civilians arriving in the UK as they embark on a gruelling five weeks of intensive army training in preparation to fight the war against Putin.

She said: “These raw recruits go through one of the most relentless training programmes the British Army has ever devised. The Ukrainian men I came to know over a few short weeks were incredibly impressive. I think of them every day and hope their training will keep them alive.”

Clare Sillery, BBC Head of Commissioning, Documentaries added: “This film delivers first time access to the British army’s intense training programme for Ukrainian civilians and offers a unique insight into how young people prepare to be frontline soldiers. Stacey’s ability to grapple with the emotional and psychological challenges they face during this process is why she continues to be so popular with viewers.”
