Sue Perkins has been diagnosed with ADHD

The former 'Great British Bake Off' presenter says "everything made sense" when she was told she has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Sue revealed the news on Twitter when replying to Gomez guitarist Tom Gray, who admitted he is "creeping towards" such a diagnosis.

He tweeted: "I’m creeping towards an ADHD diagnosis. Strongly advised to do it to help me but more likely help people who have relationships with me.

Never realised before how object permanence is such a problem for me.

Staying in touch rarely if ever occurs to me.

I can only apologise. x (sic)"

Sue replied: "I have fully crept. Once I had the diagnosis, suddenly everything made sense - to me and those who love me. Wishing you well on the journey, Tom x (sic)"

The TV presenter is best known for her double act with pal and former 'Bake Off' co-host Mel Giedroyc.

Last year, Sue admitted she found some "extraordinary parallels" between their lives during an episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are?'.

She said: "It was interesting having Mel there - we both started crying almost instantly. The parallels between my life and hers proved extraordinary.

"There's some weird, universal silliness going on there."

In September 2021, Sue told how she no longer watched 'Bake Off' - which she hosted alongside Mel for the first seven series, until the programme moved from the BBC to Channel 4 - because it would make her too "sad".

She said: "I just think it would make me sad to watch it.

"We gave it everything we had and we made a decision that was easy to make, but hard sometimes to reflect upon. You just wish it well."
