The 38-year-old actress has reportedly hired an agent across the pond in the hope that she'll be able to bag some major roles in Hollywood blockbusters later this year following the success of her lead roles in 'Doctor Foster' and 'Scott & Bailey'.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Suranne is one of the most sought-after talents in British telly after the great reception given to 'Doctor Foster', and before that ITV's 'Scott & Bailey'. Her management now think this is the time for he to try to crack America, having never really tried before.

"She knows that at 38 she isn't getting any younger but everyone in her team thinks she has a really good chance of landing a big role.

"They also think having 'Doctor Foster' on in the US will help her cause too. It's put her in the homes of millions of Americans overnight."

The brunette beauty flew out to the US for meetings with top directors a few months ago and it seems the chats went well as she and her husband Laurence Akers and their baby son jetted across there yesterday (23.01.17) for some more discussions.

The idea that she may land a role in a film alongside some famous faces will no doubt come as a huge shock to Suranne as she started her career as Karen McDonald - a role she portrayed for four years until 2004 - in the popular soap 'Coronation Street'.

It looks like Suranne has a busy year coming up as she's currently gearing up to shoot the second installment of the highly popular drama series 'Doctor Foster'.

She has also just landed the lead in a forthcoming series titled 'Gone' on Sky Atlantic.
