Returning to CBeebies this year, Teletubbies is to come back with some huge British talent in its ranks.

Despite featuring the same well-loved characters and styling, visual enhancement will be given to the show to bring a refreshed contemporary look and feel to the iconic children's favourite.

A number of brand new elements are also to be implemented into the show such as the Tubby Phone, voiced by Jane Horrocks - most famous for her role in Absolutely Fabulous as the hilarious Bubbles.

Up and coming actor and comedian Daniel Rigby joins the show as narrator, with Fearne Cotton and Jim Broadbent voicing the Voice Trumpets. Meanwhile, the opening and closing lines will be read by Antonia Thomas of Misfits and Sunshine on Leith fame.

On her role, Fearne Cotton said: "Teletubbies holds a special place in my heart so I'm honoured to be part of this well-loved TV show. As a mum, I am sure the new series will enthral a whole new generation of children across Britain and I will certainly be watching with my kids!"

Jane Horrocks added: "I am very excited to be playing the Tubby Phone in the new series. The series has a whole new feel to it, I think it's hilarious, and it will appeal to adults as much as it does children."

Teletubbies first launched in March 1997 and went on to become one of the world's most successful children's brands of all time, reaching over one billion children to-date with original episodes airing in over 120 territories, in 45 different languages.

It became the first western pre-school property to air on China's CCTV, reaching an audience of 300 million children.
