With The CW paving the way for hugely successful superhero series, CBS can now boast their own with Supergirl, and now it's been revealed that the two networks are going to team up by bringing some of their brightest stars together in an exciting crossover episode.

CBS announced this week that Grant Gustin would be bringing his take on The Flash from The CW series of the same name to Supergirl, in an episode airing on March 28.

Supergirl co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement: "We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we started making Supergirl.

"We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone's enthusiasm and support."

Gustin confirmed the news on his Instagram account, posting a candid photograph of himself and Melissa Benoist suited up for what looks to be a promotional picture for the episode.

Secret is out. @melissabenoist and I are gonna get to have some fun on Supergirl together..
