NBC has recently revealed the trailer for an all-new true-crime limited series, starring Bridget Jones actress, Renée Zellweger.
The Thing About Pam is set to release next month (March, 2022), and will be based on a Dateline podcast of the same name which aired in 2019.
The show will follow the murder of Betsy Faria, which occurred in 2011; Faria’s death saw her husband, Russ, get convicted for the crime which he claimed to have had nothing to do with.
Following his vindication, the horrendous crime set in motion a chain of events that would lead to the uncovering of a deeply disturbing and terrible scheme, involving Pam Hupp.
Zellweger will be portraying the titular character, Pam Hupp, in the upcoming series, which is itself a result of the collaboration between NBC and Blumhouse (2018’s Halloween, The Invisible Man).
The Thing About Pam will be Zellweger’s first onscreen role since she played Judy Garland in 2019’s Judy, for which she was praised, and won an Academy Award for Best Actress.
The actress has undergone a certain number of changes ahead of her role in the forthcoming show, signalling her dedication to not only her craft, but also to the series itself.
Her role in The Thing About Pam is rather different from her previous roles, which sets the Bridget Jones’ Diary actress a challenge; but her commitment to the role is commendable, and will definitely show on screen.
The trailer focuses on the events after the murder of Faria, as well as Hupp’s potential involvement; it also seems to portray the show as somewhat light-hearted, but with serious undertones of lies and deceit.
The Thing About Pam is set to detail a horrendous story that was the focus of media at the time of its occurrence, meaning that the series will most likely do well when it releases.
In addition to Zellweger, the cast also includes Judy Greer, Josh Duhamel, Katy Mixon, Gideon Aldon, Sean Bridgers, Glenn Fleshler, with Suanne Spoke, and Mac Brandt.
The Thing About Pam will release on NBC on March 8th, 2022.
