The wait is almost over. Negan's arrival to The Walking Dead, barbed wire baseball bat Lucille in hand is right around the corner, with the infamous character set to make his small screen debut in a feature-length 90-minute finale episode on Sunday, April 3.

Stepping into the role is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but that's about all we know about the television character, despite everything those who know about the Walking Dead comic books will be expecting. What we can say with around 99.99% accuracy is that somebody will be on the receiving end of Lucille's swing during the season 6 finale.

In the comic book world, it's Glenn whose life is cut short, with Negan taking revenge against Rick's group for those of his own, The Saviors, which have fallen.

A recent interview from Entertainment Weekly with showrunner Scott M. Gimple saw the crew member explain that whilst the show will remain 'faithful' to the comic books, it will also be 'different'.

He said: "Sometimes we have things from the book that people who read the comics maybe see coming a mile away, and we try to adjust that so that we can give them the same feeling they had when reading the book, which might have been shock or surprise or fear, any of those things. It might be wildly different, but it's all to get the same sort of feelings that you got when you read them. So will it be different? Absolutely. Will it be the same thing? Absolutely."

An apparant leak for the finale also came earlier this month, which said Negan considers killing a pregnant Maggie who's mid-labour in the finale just to shut her up. After that though he plays a sickening game of 'eenie, meenie, miney, moe', before the camera shifts to the point of view of the victim. This means that whilst we'll see Lucille swinging down on one of the beloved character's heads, the season will cut to black and leave us hanging on just who's getting cut.

The Walking Dead concludes at 9pm on AMC, Sunday April 3 in the US, following in the UK on FOX on Monday, April 4 at 9pm.
