The Witcher began just before Christmas of 2019, and quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular TV series. The second season came around a year after the first, and was enjoyed by audiences all the same.

Now, news of a third season officially beginning shooting has fans looking forward to what Geralt (Cavill) will be up to next, and how the story will progress after Season 2’s finale.

Not only has a plot been revealed for Season 3, but a list of new cast members, too. Only two days ago (April 14th, 2022), Netflix revealed four new actors who will be joining Cavill in The Witcher

Robbie Amell (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City) will be joining the roster of actors to play Gallatin, leader of a guerrilla army, fighting on the behalf of Nilfgaard. Gallatin does not shy away from speaking his truth, and his loyalty may bring about a battle for power.

Meng’er Zhang (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings) plays Milva, a human adopted by the dryads of Brokilon Forest. She is a highly skilled huntress, whose skills in archery make her a more than formidable opponent.

Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!) is set to join the cast as Prince Radovid. He is King Vizimir’s younger brother, and uses his good looks and charm to get what he wants; but, it’s only fun and games until someone gets hurt.

Finally, there is Christelle Elwin (Half Bad, Bloods), who will be portraying Mistle. Mistle is a member of The Rats, a collection of misfit teens who steal from the rich for their own benefit, and sometimes to aid the poor. She is tough and has her eye on revenge, until a chance meeting changes everything.

The narrative for Season 3 sees monarchs, mages and all manners of people on the hunt for Ciri of Cintra (Freya Allan), however, Geralt takes her into hiding and is determined to protect his newly-reunited family against every threat.

As Yennifer (Anya Chalotra) is trusted with Ciri’s magical training, she leads them to the fortress of Artusa, where she wishes to learn more about Ciri’s seemingly endless powers.

However, all is not what it seems and the trio must fight back, putting everything they love on the line; or they risk losing one another forever.

While there is no official release date for the third season of The Witcher as of yet, it is likely that since the previous two seasons released in December (and every two years), that Season 3 will follow suit and may come out in December, 2023.

Season 1 and 2 of The Witcher are on Netflix now.
