The future of the X-Files is going to be revealed very soon if a report from EW is to be believed, that claimed President of FOX, David Madden told the crowds at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in California that the FOX network expect “to have an announcement shortly” about the future of sci-fi series, The X-Files.

Madden also revealed during the session that those behind the network and show had hoped to make the announcement during the event on Wednesday, but because of the “complex” deal-making process for all involved, they were not quite ready to confirm or deny that The X-Files would return to the small screen.
Reports claim FOX is looking to recommission The X-Files for another batch of episodes, more than they got with last year’s miniseries but not as long as the traditional 22-episode seasons they once had.
If The X-Files is brought back to FOX, it’s likely the show won’t be making its small screen return until some point in 2018.
