The 'Line of Duty' actress will play Stella Tomlinson in the upcoming four-part psychological drama which explores "the relationship which develops between a grieving mother and the man she believes murdered her daughter".

Vicky - who is also co-producer alongside Jonny Owen via their Build Your Own Films company - said in a statement: "We are absolutely delighted that a hugely successful company such as Left Bank Pictures wanted to work with us, sharing the same beliefs with BYO’s vision to create equality of opportunity.

"I am also thrilled to be working once again with my good friend, and one of the UK’s finest actors, Johnny Harris, along with members of Nottingham’s The Television Workshop.

"To be filming in my home town is a dream come true.”

Filming is set to get underway in Nottingham and Shrewsbury during autumn 2021, with Johnny - whom Vicky stared with in 2010's 'This Is England '86' - taking on the role of killer Charles Stone.

Polly Hill, ITV’s Head of Drama, added: “'Without Sin' is a brilliantly compelling story while carefully dealing with a mother’s grief at the loss of her daughter.

"It’s hard to believe this is [writer Frances Poletti's] first drama series commission. Vicky and Johnny as Stella and Charles will be addictive viewing.

"I’m delighted to be working with BYO Films and Left Bank Pictures to bring this to ITV next year.”

In the show, Stella's 14-year-old daughter Maisy is "found dead at their family home with the bloodied, hooded figure of Charles Stone standing over her".

The drama focuses on Stella's life three years after the death, with the loss of her only child creating "deep divisions in her life".

She starts living a nocturnal life as an Uber driver and is estranged from her husband Paul.

In a press release, ITV teased: "When contacted by Restorative Justice, and in an attempt to move on, Stella and Paul reunite to listen to a taped recording of Charles, who they believe wants to atone for his sins and apologise for murdering their daughter."

With "people she trusts and holds dear" - including her mum Jessie and best friend Remy - Stella agrees to go with a Restorative Justice Mediator to meet her daughter's killer.

'Without Sin' is set to air on ITV in 2022.
