“The lone wolf dies. But the pack survives.” Those are the words of Sansa Stark, which close out the latest Game of Thrones trailer for the HBO fantasy series’ upcoming seventh season. You can check out all of the action in the new two-minute teaser below:
Returning to Westeros and beyond this July, viewers will be able to catch up with all of the drama, as Cersei Lannister sits on the Iron Throne in King’s Landing, and Daenerys Targaryen makes her approach to attack and take back what is rightfully hers. Cersei is going to have to make some new friends quickly if she hopes to cling on to power; all of those that were at least standing by her side for the short term seem to have been taken down in her crazed plot and explosion of the Cathedral, wiping out the religious movement that was the Sparrows in the process.
With Jon Snow now winning the backing of many a family, he also hopes to combine the efforts of families from all across the Seven Kingdoms, but against a foe that they’ll all have to help in taking down if they’re to survive; the White Walker army.
The dragons are clearly going to be pivotal in that fight, and make their presence known like never before in the new trailer. With their teeth bared, they’re certainly not a trio of creatures you’d want to get on the wrong side of.
Exactly what will go down when the critically-acclaimed series makes its return remains to be seen. Now ahead of the book series the show is based on – A Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin – there are surprises around every corner for all of the fans watching.
Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 16 in the US on HBO, and comes to the UK on July 17 on Sky Atlantic.
