The rejected 'X Factor' contestants have been given counselling sessions.

The young wannabes, who were thrown out of the competition at the Judge's Houses stage of the competition, have been offered professional help and guidance organised by the ITV show bosses as the hopefuls were struggling to cope after finding out they had been ditched just before the live finals.

Speaking on 'Alan Carr: Chatty Man', which airs tonight (11.10.13), Nicole Scherzinger said: "When the contestants don't get picked, they fly home that afternoon. They do get counselling when they come home as a lot of them are so young."

The stunning judge also admitted she found the new Boot Camp twist - which enabled Nicole and fellow panellists, Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Sharon Osbourne to swap their final six contestants at the last minute - was tough and she struggled to keep her emotions in check.

She explained: "It was brutal. It broke my heart. I lose sleep over this show all the time."

The 'Poison' hitmaker - who recently broke up with Lewis Hamilton after spending five years together - has encouraged youngsters to "run away" from the music industry because it is not the glamorous life that hopefuls expect.

She said: "It is gruelling and it is not the glamorous pop star life."
