Global's hit reality series Big Brother Canada finally kicked off its fourth season last night, and host Arisa Cox quickly got the twists underway, delivering a big surprise and explaining how two houseguests this year would be working together to act as one team throughout the season's entire run.

Ottawa's Philippe Paquette had already been revealed as a houseguest and entered the house, before being surprised by his younger brother Nicholas. Having not been previously announced as a castmate, this came as a shock to everybody in the studio and at home watching, but Arisa revealed they'd have to combine their game skills if they wish to succeed.

Playing as one houseguest, Philippe and Nicholas will only get one vote to evict, will be evicted together if and when the time comes and, if they win, must split the grand prize. House competitions will be competed in by just one brother and the pair must make decisions together on who they'll nominate for eviction if they win Head of Household.

Big Brother Canada continues with its first eviction episode on Thursday at 8pm ET/PT on Global, where two international houseguests will also enter the game.

This twist is a world first, where fans can vote on just who they'd like to see enter. Up for the vote are the UK's Nikki Grahame, The USA's Jase Wirey, Big Brother Australia's Tim Dormer and Big Brother Italy's Veronica Graf.

Christine Shipton, SVP and Chief Creative Officer at Shaw Media commented on the pair of twists: "Yet again, Big Brother Canada amazes fans with another surprise. And tomorrow with the international wildcard competition announcement, the stakes will be set for another great season. I can't wait to see what Big Brother has in store for Canada this year!"

Chairman & CEO at Insight Production Company Ltd., John Brunton adds: "At Insight, we're always looking to intensify the excitement factor for the viewers and bring them closer to the action. The wildcard voting is a Big Brother worldwide franchise first and viewers across Canada have the chance to impact the outcome like never before."

The show will continue to air every Wednesday at 9pm ET/PT, Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT and Sundays at 7pm ET/PT, only on Global.
