There's always a scandal where Big Brother is concerned. For years it's been making headlines for both the right and wrong reasons, sometimes due to the behaviour of producers, but mostly because of the people they choose to put into their house.

This year is no different, as last night's (June 7) live launch saw Laura Carter enter the compound, and whilst she admitted she was a fiery character, we didn't expect to see the following on her Twitter feed:

Gay is not a synonym for stupid, no matter how many people may use it as such. It's particularly interesting to note the date on which this was sent - in May 2011.

Now she uses the gay scene to tweet about her experiences, such as going to Gay Pride and 'Gay Paris'.

So, it is possible that Laura has learned from her mistakes. There have been no offences on the social media platform since her first in 2011 (that we can find), but we wouldn't be surprised if she faced being given a warning or two during her time in the Big Brother house...

Andrew Tate on the other hand is an out and out homophobe and racist, who in 2012 called called his brother Tristan a 'fag' on Twitter.

He also wasn't impressed that 'gay issues' were being taught to children:

He's also been exposed as a racist.

Another housemate who caused a stir was Sam Giffen, who said in his videotape that he was going into the house to prove that all gay men aren't camp and 'over the top'.

He has admitted in the past via his own Twitter account that he 'can't hack gay guys' despite being one himself, calling himself a 'homophobic homosexual':

Then there's Ryan Ruckledge, former X Factor contestant and, apparently, social media warrior. He has taken to his Twitter account over the past couple of years to troll people in the spotlight, bordering into sexual harrassment:

Big Brother is going to have his hands full this year...
