Sir Bruce Forsyth has admitted he wasn't being the "real Bruce" during his Strictly Come Dancing days.

The star co-hosted the BBC One celebrity dance competition for ten years and eleven series alongside Tess Dayl, but stepped down from the role earlier this year.

He's now revealed he doesn't feel he could ever be his true self on the show.

He said: "On the 'Generation Game', for example, I could have fun, I was allowed to be 'Loose Bruce'... I could do whatever I liked and interact with whomever. That's the real me. A presenter on 'Strictly' isn't the real Bruce."

The entertainer also told HELLO! Magazine how he expects Claudia Winkleman will do taking over the role.

"Well they've done it very successfully before when they've stood in for me - they've done very well. A lot of people say they're going to miss me, but everyone's got to wait and see."
