As he arrived at the Trial host’s Ant and Dec immediately picked up on his attire, ‘I’m just giving myself that superhero vibe’ Joe joked.

Telling Ant and Dec that he was keen to get out of camp and explaining his reasons, he was then told about the task ahead. Joe would have to scale the tower in order to collect the stars hanging from the planks and poles.

He would have to walk the three yellow planks and shimmy out along the two red poles to retrieve the five hanging stars.

To get the sixth star, Joe would be suspended just above the top of the tower, over 100 feet in the air!

Joe would have just 5 minutes to collect as many of the 6 stars as possible.

If Joe was to fall off the tower or any of the flag poles or planks at any time he would swing back into the tower and would be able to continue the climb, but the time would keep ticking.

‘Five minutes’ exclaimed Joe ‘I can’t do that in five minutes, can I have a couple more minutes?’

Asked about his thoughts on the challenge, Joe admitted he didn’t like heights and said ‘when I came here I said I don’t want to jump out of planes I don’t want to eat anything that’s alive and I’ve eaten croc cock, witchetty bugs and now I’m going to get up here.’

Taking on the challenge, Joe quickly reaches the yellow plank, walking along he gets the star, shoved it down his white pants and made his way to the next ledge. Shimmering along the red pole he retrieves his second star.

Still moving speedily up the tower, he reached the third star which was at the end of the yellow ledge. Walking slowly along Joe collected the star. Told he had used two minutes, he successfully retrieved the fourth star which was attached the red pole. Climbing to the fifth star Joe was able to reach to the end of the yellow ledge without leaving the tower and then made his way to the sixth star.

Preached high on top of the tower, he hesitantly climbed to the top, a full 100 feet in the air. Ant and Dec shouted that he had lots of time and Joe successfully claimed the final star and made his way back down the tower.

‘I’m so proud of myself’ said a thrilled Joe ‘I’m not good with heights’. Ant and Dec joked: ‘We’ve got a new superhero in the making.’

Later Joe admitted: ‘I feel like I’ve run the marathon that was really, really hard work.’
