J faced Table Top Terror in the day’s Bushtucker Trial and despite close encounters with jungle nasties including snakes, spiders and a lizard he successfully managed to get all five stars.

The former boy band member arrived in the trials area and sat on a giant wooden chair. In a line next to the chair were five giant wooden tables each with a giant cloche on them.

He was convinced this was an eating trial but was in for a surprise.

Ant told him: “You’re not going to eat, J.”

He added: “What you have to do in this trial is going under each table and pop your head up into the cloche where you will join some jungle critters. We will reveal what’s inside just before so everybody can see what it is. You won’t know until you’re in there with them.

“Once you’re inside the dome you will see a star hanging down – all you have to do is detach the star.”

Dec told him there were five domes and one star in each and he would have a minute to complete each one.

Dec added that J wouldn’t have to do the trial if he didn’t want to.

J replied: “That isn’t an option we’ve actually got no food at the moment.”

J got into position under the first table and poked his head through the membrane into the cloche. He quickly grabbed the star in his mouth.

Ant said: “In there with you there are grasshoppers, millipedes. He‘s done it already.”

J told they: ‘They stink man, they smell.”

Dec joked: “You’re not too fragrant yourself.”

Dec asked him: “Is there anything you wouldn’t like to be in any of these?”

J joked: “Janice screaming at me.”

“I think you’ll be alright,” said Dec.

J then moved onto the second cloche.

As he popped his head through Ant said: “In here are stick insects and leaf mimics.”

One of the insects planted itself on the side of his face but it didn’t put him off and he successfully retrieved the star.

In the third one J encountered spiders.

As he retrieved the star one of the spiders crawled onto his head and Ant warned him: “There’s one on the top of your head so take it nice and easy as they will bite.”

J joked: “I’ll bring him out as a pressie for you.”

Ant joked: “I like it when you do a trial you don’t hang around – it gives us more time off. Wicked, thanks J.”

Ant then warned him to take the next one slowly.

J popped his head up through the membrane in the table and into the cloche where there were some snakes. He grabbed the star with his teeth and as he pulled his head down a snake fell out onto his head. It was quickly removed by Medic Bob who told him it was a carpet python.

As J moved onto the last cloche the boys told him to take it steady. The cover was removed form the cloche as J positioned himself underneath to reveal a monitor lizard. As J was about to enter the cloche he spotted the looks on the boys’ faces.

J said: “I saw your face then.”

But he was undeterred and said: “Come on what are you? Let’s be having you.”

But having popped his head through J couldn’t see the huge lizard as it was behind him.

It then crawled round to face J and he quickly grabbed the star.

Ant said: “That was an angry lizard.”

Dec told J:” “Five out of five.”

J said: “Yeah I’m really pleased at that.”

The boys shook hands with J and he told them: “Thank you and we must meet down at a nice pub or restaurant.”

Ant: “We will.”

Dec: “I’m sure that will be arranged.”
