Shaun Ryder Bitten By A Snake
First Lembit, and now Shaun Ryder has been bitten by a snake in the I'm A Celebrity Jungle.
The Happy Mondays frontman was trying to retrieve keys to free himself from a locked "cell" when the non-venomous reptile clamped its jaws around his right hand and sunk its fangs into his thumb and forefinger.
Ryder calmly tried to remove his hand from the box containing the keys - which were "guarded" by the snake - but the creature wrapped its body around his fist and continued to bite him.
Two specially-trained rangers intervened and eventually prised the snake off Ryder. Medics then cleaned his bleeding wound and bandaged his hand. The Kinky Afro hitmaker said after the incident, "The geezer (ranger) said I did the right thing to do - don't panic, just let it sink its teeth into you and wrap itself around you... If that hadn't have been someone's animal I would have smashed it."
