The 39-year-old TV host - who presents alongside Declan Donnelly as Ant and Dec - has admitted his wife of nine years Lisa Armstrong cringes when the pair present the reality show because they're both so over-the-top.

Asked about the secret to the duo's success, he confessed: "It's because we can both camp it up with the best of them.

"I get shouted at a lot by the wife: 'Why are you doing that? That's so camp!'

"It's never clothing. It's just my mannerisms."

The pair have been presenting the annual series since 2002 but they thought it could turn into a "disaster" when the idea was first pitched to them.

Ant explained: "The title was ridiculous! Putting a bunch of celebs in a jungle? It took quite a bit of convincing for me to do that show. You liked it from the off, didn't you?"

Dec, 40, continued: "I just thought the idea was so out there that even if it was a disaster, it was going to be a fun disaster."

The 15th series of the show, based in Australia, kicks off on Sunday night (15.11.15) but they still find it as funny as ever to watch and be a part of.

Dec told The Sun newspaper's TV Magazine: "Every year you get nervous and you start thinking: 'How are we going to make it work this time?'

"Then the show starts and we just don't stop laughing. I mean, we work on the challenges, twists and do all the things you can do to make it fresh but, basically, the whole thing is about the people who are in there.

"We both love doing it and, ultimately, no one has any clue what is going to happen between the stars. It still makes us howl after all these years."
