Jimmy Bullard reportedly lost £625,000 before agreeing to sign up for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

The former footballer arrived in Australia this week ahead of the start of the reality series, and it's now emerged that he agreed to appear after losing the huge cash sum in a failed get-rich-quick scheme.

Initially hoping for a return of 20 per cent a month from the investment, he's yet to get a penny and is now said to be fighting to get the money back whilst a fraud investigation has been launched.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper a source said after it was revealed Jimmy is being paid £100,000: "The money isn't normally anywhere near enough for Premier League footballers.

"Losing so much cash explains why he was keen to go."

Along with Robbie Keane and two ex-England international players, Jimmy is said to have been told that he'd be a part of an exclusive scheme run by top City financiers who make large sums of money by investing in fast-growing organisations.

They're reported to have been approached on behalf of the scheme by former Coventry and Scotland star Michael McIndoe.

Victims are said to have contacted police earlier this year after investments lost range from £100,000 to £625,000, and Scotland Yard has confirmed that it is investigating allegations of fraud.
