The 28-year-old TV personality has admitted her turbulent relationship with her former 'Geordie Shore' co-star led her piling on the pounds and neglect her body, although she didn't realise her extreme weight gain until the pair split in February 2013 and she was left "single, fat and unhappy".

Speaking about her weight battle to The Sun newspaper, she said: "I got really overweight when I was in a relationship with Ricci Guarnaccio. Ricci never once made me feel unattractive despite the weight I'd gained. So I never stopped to worry about how much I'd put on.

"When cracks started to appear in the relationship and we broke up I was single, fat and unhappy. I had no motivation, I couldn't kick start a new healthy regime.

"A lot of us do it - we get into a relationship and eat together and don't worry as much about our diet."

Vicky felt the MTV show, which saw the Newcastle-born star enjoy regular boozy sessions with her house mates, played a large part in her weight gain.

She explained: "It was a dark time. I was down after the break-up and my future on 'Geordie Shore' looked uncertain so I ate more than ever.

"I was on 'Geordie Shore' at the time too so I was drinking a lot. When you are busy, if you are anything like me, your diet and any sort of exercise falls by the wayside."

However, Vicky - who is now a healthy size eight - decided to change her ways when she discovered pictures of her holidaying in Marbella with her sister.

She said: "When I saw the pap pictures I looked massive and was desperate to do something about it.

"I wish I knew sooner that exercise and healthy food would make me feel better."
