Insiders at the BBC have reportedly dismissed claims they are considering former 'X Factor' star Nicole Scherzinger to replace Rita Ora on the talent show.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "The BBC does not want anyone who has been on The X Factor coming on The Voice.

"Our show is an established brand with strong coaches Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Ricky Wilson - who all have strong musical credibility. We don't want cast-offs. They would dilute our brand."

Meanwhile, a source previously claimed that Nicole was a "front runner" for the judging panel.

They said: "Nicole is meeting with some of the top producers on 'The Voice' this week to discuss the prospect of her replacing Rita.

"Will.i.am, who is our most popular coach, is very close friends with Nicole and has been lobbying hard for her to join the panel. Andrew Lloyd Webber has also sung her praises because of her talent and passion for mentoring young acts.

"We're not planning to make a formal decision until the end of the summer but this will very much make Nicole a front runner."
