The 22-year-old star was a judge alongside the 55-year-old music mogul on the US version of 'The X Factor' from 2012 to 2013 and has now offered the BBC Radio 1 DJ some tips on how best to deal with Simon on the new series of the UK show.

Speaking on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills, Demi said: "You just gotta give it back to him, you really do, you just have to give it back to him and I think people will have a lot of respect for you when you do that because Simon's not used to people talking back to him.

Asked if there's anything Simon hates hearing, Demi added: "I don't really know, you just gotta treat him like any other grumpy old man on the street, you gotta give it back to him."

The 'Cool For the Summer' singer also confessed that while she enjoyed her time on the talent show, she wouldn't want to move across the pond to join the UK version.

She admitted: "I don't know if I'll do it again, just because music always come first to me and I'm kind of a home body so I don't know if I could be gone for that long."
