Simon Cowell has made the decision to cut scenes on Xtra Factor which included contestants swimming with dolphins.

A preview clip showed Mel B's boys in a pool with the mammals and Paul Akister even shared a kiss with one of the dolphins.

Anger was sparked among viewers of the show and a petition was set up online gaining almost 8,000 signatures demanding its removal.

Animal lover Simon found out about the scenes through Twitter and made the decision to axe them from the final show.

He tweeted: "Reading your tweets. I had no idea Xtra Factor producers filmed with dolphins. This will NOT be showed on Saturday.

"I think you all know my view on cruelty to animals so thank you all for your concern. (sic)"

The Judges' Houses stage of the competition kicks off on The X Factor this coming weekend.
