The 55-year-old music mogul has revealed the One Direction heartthrob - who found fame on the ITV show - will be joining one of his many successful talent shows when the band take a break next year.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the launch of 'The X Factor' at the Picturehouse Central cinema in London last night (26.08.15), Simon said: "Yeah I think Louis might be on one of the shows, yeah."

The 'X Factor' boss and judge also admitted he was desperate to win Rita Ora back after seeing her as a coach on the BBC's rival show 'The Voice' last year.

He shared: "I watched her on 'The Voice', to be honest with you, a year ago and my heart sunk because I thought she was really good. So I saw her at the BRITs and I went, 'Well thanks a lot for choosing them', [and she said], 'Well you didn't want me', and I went, 'Well I did actually and I do want you now', so once we kind of met and I reminded her, 'You were actually on 'X Factor' before 'The Voice' so can you come back please', it was fine."

And despite confessing he was desperate to get Rita for his own show, Simon actually advised his close pal Paloma Faith to join his rivals.

He explained: "Paloma called me about two weeks ago and said she'd been offered the show, great money, what do you think and I said, 'Do it, it's good for you.' Me and Paloma are friends and it's not that she wanted my consent but she wanted my feeling on it and I thought, yeah it's perfect for you."

However, he is planning to annoy BBC bosses by asking Sir Tom Jones - who was axed from the show without warning earlier this month - to join 'The X Factor'.

He added: "Do you know what? I'd love to put him on one of the Judges' Houses. 100 per cent."

'The X Factor' kicks off on Saturday (29.08.15) at 8pm on ITV.
