The 44-year-old rapper will become the first musician to join the wrestling elite at the ceremony held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on April 2, and the star admitted it was an "honour" to be asked.

After doing an impression of legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan, Snoop said in a video interview: "I made it baby, I made it.

"I appreciate Vince McMahon and the whole WWE crew for thinking of somebody like myself to put in the Hall of Fame. It's an honour."

As well as the Hall of Fame recognition, Snoop is also looking forward to his cousin, female WWE star Sasha Banks - whose real name is Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado - competing for the Divas championship at WrestleMania 32 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the night after the ceremony.

Speaking to gossip website TMZ, he added: "It's going to be a beautiful night."

Snoop will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Mike Tyson and Arnold Schwarzenegger as he becomes the latest celebrity entrant into the WWE Hall of Fame.

After being told he was going to be inducted, he wrote on Twitter: "real recognize real. thnk u @WWE universe for tha honor #HOF #WWE #wrestlemania (sic)."

Snoop is no stranger to wrestling as he guest hosted 'Raw' in 2009 and served as Master of Ceremonies for a match at 'WrestleMania XXIV'.

He also joined Hogan in the ring as he helped throw Curtis Axel over the top rope at the go-home show last year.
