Best known for her role as Carli D'Amato in The Inbetweeners, Head is excited to join the serial drama and said: "I am really looking forward to joining the Emmerdale cast, and so excited to be the one to put a face to the name Rebecca White. I can't wait to see how the village reacts to her arrival."

Series Producer Iain MacLeod added: "The character of Rebecca is a brilliant addition to the village. She's funny, feisty and flirtatious - she might turn your fella's head but, importantly, she has a good heart.

"Emily couldn't be more perfect for this role and we're delighted to have her aboard - the chemistry between her and our regulars is already electric."

Ever since the White family appeared in Emmerdale and took ownership of Home Farm, Rebecca's name has been floating around, but viewers haven't until this point been able to put a face to the name.

Known to be a warring sister to Chrissie, her arrival could see her sibling's standing in the village destabilised, whilst their father Lawrence could be making some big plans to reunite the two and stop their feuding once and for all.

Promising a 'dramatic' entrance, ITV say that Rebecca 'will continue to raise tensions within her family and in the village for months to come'.

Emily's first on-screen appearance is scheduled for October.
