Declan Macey is methodically and ruthlessly planning the murder of his wife in an upcoming Emmerdale storyline.
The character played by Jason Merrells has been spiking Charity Macey's (Emma Atkins) drinks with pesticide, after he discovered she lied to him about aborting their child.
Credit: ITVJason has now revealed that Declan feels he has no other option than to seek revenge through her murder.
Speaking to the Daily Star he said: "When he finds out that she's been lying his whole world falls apart. There's a huge amount of hatred and revenge."
His plan kicks up a notch this week as Charity is whisked away for what she thinks is a romantic break with Declan, but where really he is planning to kill the blonde.
He explains: "He's completely tied up in the mother of all pre-nups that he signed on her behalf and it's utterly watertight. She hasn't cheated on him which is the only get-out, so there's nothing he can do.
"In his skewed logic, the only thing he can do is kill her. To him that's his only option.
"In a very ruthless and methodical way, he plots his revenge."
The scenes are going to be hard to watch, but Jason admits he's enjoyed his time working on the storyline and compared it to a major motion film.
"Filming this stuff has been really demanding and brilliant to do. We've basically been making a movie together, it's been fantastic to film in this amazing location."
