It’s official: Gary Lucy will be making his return to Hollyoaks after 15 years away, in the role of Luke Morgan. Digital Spy confirmed the news today after speaking to a spokesperson for the Channel 4 soap, but no further comments were made as to how long he may be around for, or why he’ll be back.

Luke Morgan was a character Hollyoaks viewers enjoyed between 1999 and 2002, but will likely be back on screens within the next six weeks, as The Daily Star Sunday reported Gary Lucy was back on set filming last week, as well as claiming his contract lasts for 18 months.

In his original run, Luke brought some hugely taboo topics for the time to the small screen, including one where his character was raped by another male. Luke later struggled with depression and even attempted to take his own life, before leaving the village altogether for Canada, only returning for his parents’ second wedding.

The job comes after Gary starred in the live stage adaptation of The Full Monty, where he stripped off naked each night for the viewing pleasure of everybody watching, with fellow former Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain also involved in the show’s latest leg.

He’s also enjoyed stints on Footballer’s Wives and EastEnders, as well as a place on Dancing on Ice back in 2010 where he finished in the runners up position.

Hollyoaks continues weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with First Look episodes airing weekdays at 7pm on E4.
