‘So, is he holding you here against your will?’ the constable asks Tam, who’s so far taken great pleasure in watching Brad squirm his way through police questioning. Taking this as her cue to do the right thing, she comes clean to her scam – but it does little to ease the fact of her having not only caused her half-brother a whole heap of unnecessary embarrassment but also cost him his desperately needed new job. Worse still, promises of an end to her constant troublemaking are soon forgotten when, without Rachel or Brad’s knowledge, she later decides to leave town to visit her mum at the retreat. It’s Sally who sees her walking along the road towards the bus stop; having failed to convince her to go home, she rushes in to school to tell Brad, offering to cover his class so that he can go and collect her.The day’s events are enough to force him into accepting Sally's longstanding offer to look after Tam. It's the first real sign of a thaw in Sally and Brad's recently frosty relationship; Brad builds on it by offering to stay on teaching until the end of term. Is there hope for them yet?Point of no returnJazz, meanwhile, has been left in no doubt that she’s not likely to be winning any popularity contests any time soon; with most of the Bay’s residents ignoring her, only former flame Tony is willing to give her the time of day, and even then he’d rather that any potential drinks meetings were kept decidedly low key. Feeling downtrodden, Jazz makes an emotional call to Kevin, the husband she left without explanation, and finds her spirits lifted when he agrees to visit her in the hope of reconciliation. But they both remain blissfully unaware that Drew is just waiting to stick his oar in; as soon as he sees Kevin in the bar he decides to let him in on a few secrets, starting with the fact of his mother’s many conquests. Although he eventually backs down, it only takes Drew finding out about Jazz’s plans to send the young girls off to boarding school for him to go back for seconds. While Kevin is determined not to believe it, seeing Jazz’s reaction to the photo he’s been given of her with Tony tells him all he needs to know: their marriage is over.

Damaged goods

Belle and Lucas have been working on major artwork for the HSC exam. While Lucas has made a sculpture, Belle has worked on a photographic presentation; although their work will be marked separately, they’ve decided to exhibit the piece together as an installation, taking ‘Corruption of the Planet’ as their theme.

But their delight at the finished project won’t last long. While they're off scoping out the exhibition space, Tony’s quiet evening at home is interrupted by a visit from a distraught Jazz, who’s evidently looking for more than words of comfort.

As one thing leads to another, they fail to notice that, a bottle of wine having been knocked over, Belle’s photos have been destroyed.
