As if we weren't already worried about Amanda (hah!), we discover that Kelli - the woman with a peculiar hatred for the letter Y - isn't working alone. You see, she has a fella in tow. His name is Ethan; he has eyes like currants; and he has chosen to wear the perm of a non-league footballer circa 1987. In other words, we don't fancy yours much. Anyway, Kelli's latest wheeze is to get Peter and Mandy engaged; after all, the further she falls the more bones she'll break when she hits rock bottom. Putting her plan into action, Kelli arranges for a delivery of flowers to be sent to Mandy. When Peter arrives home, Kelli tips back her head to open her eyes and coos at what a thoughtful man he is. However, Peter sticks his crotch out in confusion. He knows full well that he didn't send them, and is horrified to see that the name on the card is "Jeremy". Later, Amanda is stunned when she's accused of having an affair; she insists that the only Jeremy she knows presents University Challenge and doesn't really seem like the romantic sort. As World War Three breaks out in the living room, Kelli stands in the kitchen doorway looking on with a sinister smirk. On the surface, it doesn't look as though Peter will be popping the question any time soon - but Kelli hasn't finished toying with them yet... Speaking of house-quaking arguments, there's a real humdinger going down at Sally's place. Martha has only just bothered to show her face after hearing about Ric's troubles, and Alf knows why. "It's because you've been too busy playing up with somebody else's husband", he snorts, as Colleen puts the kettle on and settles down with her pen and notebook. "Martha is too pigheaded to listen to anyone else", Alf moans, once she's flounced off to the Surf Club. Colleen makes an amusing jibe about it running in the family. They both have a point, though, as Martha stands by her man even when Ash reveals that he still hasn't left his wife. Colleen later gives Martha some surprisingly wise words of advice. "Alf Stewart's been around long enough to know how things work", she gobbles. "And even if he's wrong, it comes from a lot of love for you." Martha eventually hears her grandfather out and begins to see things from his point of view. She wobbles further when she wanders down to the beach and spots Ash, his wife and his kids having a huggy reunion. It's clear that Ash's family is far from being the unhappy unit he's tried to portray, and Marth is quick to dish up an ultimatum. "If you're going to break up with her, then go ahead and do it", she huffs. "But I can't be with you until you do." Don't hold your breath, love...
